Soon the direct flights will begin - a couple a week for the first week, and then they start in earnest with frequent flights to many UK and European destinations, at prices varying from super cheap to ridiculously expensive, depending on when you choose to travel. Ryanair have started domestic flights from Athens, establishing Corfu as one of their Greek hubs.
Even the winter isn't too bad these days with a good selection of flights from Athens and Thessalonika to a choice of airports. Although it would be nice if the airlines could arrange flight timetables which at least pretended to connect to domestic flights to the islands!
